I have not posted in awhile since it has seemed to me that nothing has majorly progressed in my prep for Disney. I also thought my list of "To Do" things was pretty much under control but the more attention I pay to it... the longer it seems to grow! So here is what I have been working on and a list of things I need to get working on.
I got an email before Christmas from Disney that said my arrival date (2/7) has been selected as a trial run for pre-registering online for Disney classes, usually you do that on check in day! So this morning I pre-registered for Creativity & Innovation (C&I) and also an Exploration Series called Exploring Marketing.
A note if you are going to do a College Program (CP) and want to take a class for credit or no credit: It can be very complicated so the earlier you begin talking to advisors the better! I have worked out probably 10 different scenarios for finishing my last semester and I only have 3 classes to finish up! But there are definitely differences in the classes OU will allow for credit and those that I want to take.
A little background on my credit situation for C&I:
Next fall I will actually fufill all of my requirements for my degree but I will be 1 credit short of my graduation credit requirement. (I was actually 5 credits short but I took SOC 100 this fall for 4 credits) I had a REL 170 class scheduled online at OU for 4 credits to fulfill my 1 credit requirement. When I met with the OU Career Services DCP advisor she gave me 3 classes OU approves for School of Business Administration (SBA) credit. The only class I need to take I have just taken this semester. The other two were HR courses that would be OK but there were several other classes that sounded more interesting. So I emailed an SBA academic advisor who in turn talked to the head of Marketing & Management department who agreed to let me take C&I (which was reccommended as an excellent choice by the advisor at Career Services) to fufill my random 1 credit! YAY! I also can now drop REL 170. I still havent figured out if I have to register for the OU's ENT 305 (considered equivalent to C&I for my case) or if I just transfer the credit from Disney later? This email is on my "To Do" list.

I also have gotten an email "offering" the chance to change start dates to 2/21 which I 1. don't want to do because it will cut into my Disney time (end date is the same 8/12) 2. You don't have the option to take a class due to the date 3.We have travel all ready to go, Dad will be going to Kansas the second week of Feb and Mike already has a plane ticket. Mom heard they can and have just changed peoples dates. But hopefully since I am pre-registered in a class they won't do that.
We had a send off meeting at school on December 1st and they told us that we will get our Maingate passes via mail. Since currently disney has my address as my school address I need to change that. When I move out of my apartment at OU they likely wont forward anything home and it would be terrible if they threw out my Maingate passes!!!! So i need to email recruiting. Idk how else to get it changed. Add that to the "to do".
Mom has a good start on packing for me upstairs.. cleaning supplies, towels, organizers etc... But it is hard to start packing when I still haven't moved out of my apartment and I'm still using my stuff! My blankets I need to pack and bedspread are still at school. We are going to Target tomorrow to get some things like socks ( have to be covering the ankle) and sheets (need new regular twin ones) and I also need an ethernet cord (never needed one at OU bc we have wireless there).
Well I apparently had more to catch up on than I thought! Sorry for the long post.. until theres more to report - I'll be playing Epic Mickey with Dad, Have a Magical Day!

When I was a kid we had VHS
I got my first Christmas present today!! haha I know it isn't even Thanksgiving! Grandma Jackie and Grandpa Don brought it up to me yesterday, a brand new dvd/ VHS player all in one. Yippee =)
I've been having this problem where I can only watch old disney movies at home because they are all on vhs and I'm not allowed to bring the new ones to school. I'm actually only allowed to bring the old ones if I sign them out on a piece of paper with mom first!
But anyways now I can watch all the oldies when I'm at school. YAY
So what to start with?! Fox & the Hound, Cinderella, Beauty & the Beast!?
Well I have to go to the store and get some ingredients because tomorrow is our 2nd annual 3105 Apartment Family Thanksgiving. And I am making macaroni & cheese and pumpkin cheesecake with gingersnap crust. So i'm gonna watch while a bake, What a fabulous evening!

The bare necessities of life will come to you!
Just finished a week of 3 exams, 2 papers & 1 project. And just when it was bummin me out this was posted to my facebook wall:
and then today i got this in my email:
Ah more things to read instead of textbooks yayayayay
and just for fun:
Look for the bare necessities The simple bare necessities Forget about your worries and your strife I mean the bare necessities That's why a bear can rest at ease With just the bare necessities of life Now when you pick a pawpaw Or a prickly pear And you prick a raw paw Next time beware Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw When you pick a pear Try to use the claw But you don't need to use the claw When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw Have I given you a clue ? The bare necessities of life will come to you They'll come to you!
Happy Birthday Meg!

The CP Presentation was here!
There really was no need to go other than to see all the other OU people that might be joining me in the Happiest Place on Earth =) But I did get a flyer and some cool stickers for my scrapbook (score!) The Disney recruiter was the same girl that came last year and the presentation was mostly the same. It just seems so much different when you ALREADY know that you get to do everything that they show in the videos! They are just exciting magical videos, in typical Disney fair... inspiring music, heartwarming lines... ah love it all..
This has nothing to do with the CP but it is an example of a magical, give you goose bumps Disney video and I love it! Let the Memories Begin
So the recruiter told us about Living Learning & Earning and was basically a more personal version of the E-Presentation that I watched before I interviewed. My favorite part is the video about current cast members and what they got out of their CP and what silly attraction they worked (Like Jungle Cruise) at the end they say "I'm (So and so) and I'm the VP of [Marketing for Disney Parks] [Food and Beverage Disneyland Resort] etc etc! At the end everyone who was thinking of applying got their password for the application. I found out that I won't know anything about my housing situation or plans until at LEAST December 1! Which is good I suppose since I know theres nothing I can do I can worry about school work :/ but I just want everything to be planned out!
Oh well.. Theres an "offer party" on the first and all OU students accepted can come with their parents and our Career Services rep tells us everything that happens with school, classes, housing etc..
So until then I guess we play waiting games... Here is my favorite ( I made this up lol)
Make a category for each park on a clean sheet of paper ( no cheating )
under each park make a section for merchandise, food, and attractions for MK and EPCOT I make the appropriate lands/pavillions. Name everything you can remember and make sure you put them in their correct area. You get points for correct names, and locations. Play against whoever will agree to it :) and see who can get the most points... I just play by myself when I'm bored hehehe but its fun I promise!
Heres an example:
Magic Kingdom
Fantasyland:
Merch
Poohs Thotful Spot
Food
Pinochio's
Attractions
Dumbo
Peter Pan's Flight
Its a Small World
Tomorrowland:
Food
Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies
The Lunching Pad
Attractions
Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
Stitch's Great Escape
Tomorrowland transit authority
And continue on until you can't possibly think of anymore... but I can't give you all the answers!!
Check yourself with your family disney dork or Click on your park and then your section on the left or your current Birnbaum book.

We're Going to Disney World!
I picked the title of this post for 2 reasons:
1. Dad always made us yell "IM GOING TO DISNEY WORLD" when this logo came on in the beginning of movies as the half circle line went across the screen. Because in order to go back thats what you have to do. Every time.
2. Mike has a plane ticket to come to DISNEY WORLD with us!!! YAY
Current Plans
We are leaving on Friday Feb 4th at like 6 am (you know how mom & dad are) and driving for like a billion hours and will be arriving in FL on Saturday the 5th sometime. (Again this is moms area of responsibility currently) Mike oh so conveniently pointed out that there will be 3 of us driving down in 2 cars and he could only be so kind as to join us so noone has to ride alone! [Hes so nice (: ] So Sunday we will have the whole day to chill out and relax. Oh yes and we will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside in a Bayou room, not a Mansion room. FYI
Sunday: Early 8am breakfast at the Polynesian. I plan on ordering pineapple macadamia nut pancakes. I dont know what everyone else will eat :P
Park hop all day and show Mike how its done. Eat at least 1 churro. (and buy mike his own bc it is just one of those things that really cant be shared)
5pm reservations at Yak & Yeti!!!! I cannot tell you what I will be ordering since we have never eaten here yet!!! Props to mom for Sundays plans. :)
Dad will drive Mike to the airport super early Monday so he can catch a flight home (apparently after graduation you have to go to work everyday), and mom and I will head over to check in.
I'm pretty pumped about Sunday February 6th!

Welcome to my tropical hideaway, you lucky people you!
Welcome to my blog! If you've been around here lately you'll know how very excited I am to finally start it! My very Magical Adventure blog is dedicated to every experience that comes along with the Disney College Program :) This is my "tropical hideaway" or "laughing place" to discuss all things Disney so hopefully I don't drive my roommates and boyfriend totally nuts!
I suppose I should start from the beginning and play catch up from the beginning of the app process. First you have to go to a presentation at a school or watch the e-presentation. Since OUs presentation is at the end of October I did the e-presentation. It took extra long to finish because the internet was being so slowww.. and I was not being very patient! Then you have to do a web-based interview that is very confusing and long. I couldn't log in since I had a different password for it than my other log ins :s and I couldn't remember it from the previous year. I told Mom that it was a "sign" but she was just as practical as ever and insisted I was better off to do it fresh & awake. So I did, and I passed! Then I had my phone interview on Friday 9/17 and it was nerve wracking. She asked me all kinds of different questions than I had last time, and a lot about working in merchandise and with cash registers. Which you would think I would have a lot of experience in, but at the racetrack everything was in 50 cent increments and we did all the math in our heads and at Bath & Body I almost always worked in the front of the store or in the back not ringing up customers. So I was kinda nervous that would work against me. Before I hardly even had a chance to worry about it though, I got an email from Disney College Recruiting!
It was a week later on Saturday 9/25 I had already checked my email once that morning (because I practically check it everytime I sit at my computer) and when I sat back down at my computer like an hour later. There it was! DUN DUN DUN....... in our school google mail in your inbox view you can see the beginning of your message after the subject. At first glance I saw that it said invitation, but I didn't want to get my hopes up so I turned my computer to Mike and made him read it. He told me that it said I could never go there again or something ridiculous that I knew was NOT what the email said. lol When he told me that it was my acceptance invitation I was shocked and sooo Happy. It still hasn't sunk in yet. I wish I was a better reaction person. Mom & Dad can attest to the fact that Ive never had big, grand reactions to things. When we got cool presents for Christmas Jenna would jump up and down and yell and scream while I just stood there and smiled. :) I don't know why I do that! I did just exactly that when I found out I was accepted even though I'm SO SO SO excited! (and kinda scared!)
Then I had to break the news to the roomies. Amy was happy and Lia was sad that she'd have to have someone knew on her side of the apartment. Sarah must have heard us talking because she walked out to the living room pretty mopey and then we sat on the couch and got teary :'(
Its gonna be so sad to move out of here because I <3 3105 & Amy & Sarah & Lia. But I'm going to try my best to not get carried away with Disney stuff :/ and enjoy every single second of this semester :) Although I can't help but start planning their visit because I know they will LOVE it. and they wont think I'm so weird anymore because they will be singin disney songs (sarah already does hehe) and raving about Wishes.
Welp this is getting long so I'll just have to continue this later my bed is calling me :) Goodnight folks!
